meet the makers
our story
After 30 plus years in the aerospace industry, God provided Gary & Linda the opportunity to retire to the east coast to be closer to family. It was here that The Pine Guild was born out of their love of crafting and woodworking. They have always loved sharing their abilities with friends, co-workers and church family and now are excited to share their talents with you.

Gary grew up in a middle-class do-it-yourself Midwest family. He fondly remembers spending time with his grandfather who repaired and refinished furniture and working on projects with his dad.
After graduating college and starting his career in an aircraft manufacturing company, Gary loved watching The New Yankee Workshop with Norm Abram and trying out what he learned.
Largely a self-taught woodworker, Gary believes that there is nothing that can’t be learned by reading a book, watching you-tube and going hands on! During his career woodworking was a great creative outlet and stress reliever.
Retirement has given Gary and his bride Linda the opportunity to assemble the workshop he always wanted and focus on woodworking projects.
meet linda.
Being fortunate to grow up with a very crafty mom, Linda’s imagination was continually fed with new and fun ways to keep her hands busy. Making something from nothing was usually the challenge. Treasures could be found in the woods behind her home, in her dad’s junk bucket in the garage, or on the creek beds down the street. Thrifting was a weekly occurrence.
She also had an imaginative Grandma that treated her like a princess! Special weekend sleep-overs were packed full with making things: doll furniture from tuna cans, painted rocks, thimble dolls, sock animals… She taught Linda to knit, crochet and play her old organ.
These two strong women taught her one very important truth:
There is no limit to what you can do, with God as your Father.
There is little she won’t attempt to tackle — and honestly, that’s how she’s learned. Linda’s love of design, florals, watercolors, sewing, painting furniture and making jewelry all began with the willingness to try it.
it’s all about family.
Much like their upbringing, Gary and Linda understand the value of passing on creativity, excellence and a willingness to try new things. They’ve raised their three children to think outside of the box, problem solve, and use their imaginations.
Now, with children of their own, the traditions continue. The grandchildren are also getting to learn first-hand from Mimi (Linda) and Papa (Gary) when they come to visit them in Pinehurst. Whether they’re in the craft studio with Mimi or workshop with Papa, the legacy continues with the next generation.
